Arbor Care's Journey
Having returned from Canada in 2005, after working as a tree consulting arborist for three years, Michael Garry decided it was time to establish his own company. His experience working with one of Toronto's mos prominent Tree Care company's led Michael to establishing Arbor-Care Professional Consulting Tree Service, covering all aspects of tree preservation.
Just three short years later, Arbor Care went on to win the Best New Business Award from the Limerick Enterprise Board in 2008.
Michael Garry is also a past board member of Crann, an NGO organization set up to raise awareness of the environmental importance of trees, hedgerows and woodland.
2000-2002 University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Qualification Obtained: Bachelor Degree in Arboriculture and Amenity Forestry.
The degree incorporated all aspects of tree care management in both an urban and rural context. Subjects studied include pathology and entomology, forest planning, soil science, community ecology and silviculture.
2008 Lantra Awards- Professional Tree Inspection
This course was undertaken in the UK provided a specific tree inspection training programme
at an advanced professional level for competent arboriculturists to enable them to reach a
level of competence acceptable as having received adequate training.
2003-2004 International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
Qualification Obtained: ISA Certified Arborist
1996-1999 Myerscough College, Preston, Lancashire, England.
Qualification Obtained: National Diploma in Arboriculture.
The three-year diploma covered all aspects of tree care from climbing through to the identification of pests and diseases. The course had an extensive practical focus and the entire second year involved a co-op placement in a tree care consultancy firm in Italy.
